This project started 15 years ago with its yerba mate plantation, and since the very beginning it received meticulous ministration: Deep underground, with optimal red land, in the ideal altitude, the finest selection of plants and the most important factor: the organic production.

“in this day and age with life becoming more and more hectic, it is very difficult to find time to have healthy and adequate nourishment, the idea was to accommodate ones lifestyle with this tea and to produce it with a really satisfying and natural flavour” confirms Mr. Vilmar, accountable  for the project.

In 2005 the yerba mate plantation was endorsed by USDA and IFOAM as 100% organic. ” it was our first great victory”, guarantees Mr. Ceni. But until then  yerba mate had only been sold in tealeaves ,therefore it was necessary to add more value to the product. Then in January of this year, the company decided to take a bigger step, and in association  with the Organics Brazil Project   led to the BIOFACH in Nuremberg, the biggest organic fair  trade of the world.  It was at Nuremberg which saw the launch of yerba mate in tea bags, with the brand name Herbal. “The trade fair   was fabulous , we had the opportunity to know more about the   world-wide organic market and to launch our brand also” comments  Miss  Ceni, responsible for the marketing of the company.

 In September, Mate Herbal launches a new product, the organic chimarrão- the cultural drink of south americans. “To conserve its color, flavor and the quality of the yerba mate , we will vacuum pack our “chimarrão”. This type of packing conserves the nutritional properties of the yerba mate , providing a good  and healthy drink with no sugar at all" guarantees Paola.

We are very enthusiastic, because today we have the ideal conditions to control all the phases of production of the yerba mate . from the plantation to the packing … and more importantly we have in our hands the organic yerba mate, without the addition of any type of pesticids, herbicids ,which presents even more  nutrients  that those found in  green tea! Now we are seeking the trade fair certification.
 
Mate Herbal participates in the Biofach Latin America, which will take place  in São Paulo  from the  23rd until the 25th of October.
